Stephen's turn this week and no surprise that he has chosen Kintaro as a restaurant for this week. He thoroughly enjoys his meals there so Japanese here we come!
We went to the Bath Hotel first. We have to QR check-in now at all pubs and cafes. There was a function happening in the beer garden. We could score a seat out on the street or sit by the bar/dining room at a table ornamented with tiles. The surface was dirty from the lunch time, so we asked for it to be wiped down. It took 2 requests before it was finally wiped.
Con turned up and then Chad after 6pm. Chad had the alcoholic ginger beer first followed by a Norwood beer (which was an acquired taste). Chad said he probably wouldn't get it again. Stephen, myself and Con had the Furphy's. It was a bit of a problem getting the imperial pint glasses because they said they could only serve the imperial pints in Furphy glasses.
Remember that the Bath Hotel has the bathrooms without any sinks? There are no basins, just a flat benchtop and the water runs to the back. It splashes everywhere - I don't like them at all. They are novel though.
At around 7.15 we strolled down to Kintaro. There was a massive queue outside. It was a hot day. We got ticket number 74 and they were serving number 66. There were 3 chairs and we took it in turns to sit down. I spent that time looking at the menu and what I was going to eat. In the end we waited about 40 minutes for the table.
When we were shown to our seats we were asked to sit on one side of the table only due to COVID 19 restrictions. Stephen scored the best seat next to the conveyor belt, then Chad, then Con and I sat on a chair at the end of the table.
I had Ramen with Tempura Prawns followed by a salt and pepper octopus. Very tasty. I had to add soy sauce to the ramen, but it tasted lovely - I will give my score a 7.5.
Stephen won the day by having the most dishes. He had lobster and tempura prawn/avocado and duck amongst his dishes. He was very satisfied with an 8 out of 10.
Con gave a 7 out of 10. High praise indeed coming from Con. He had 2 x octopus dishes and said that the meal was 'all good'.
Chad had 6 dishes including spicy chicken, octopus and a green tea dessert mousse. He also had an orange juice. A total score for Chad of 7.5.
We were very happy with our meals. After paying ($43.00 for Stephen and my meal - a bargain!) we strolled next door to an outside seat at Buongornios. We had a coffee (Chad didn't have one). It was a very pleasant evening - warm. The perfect end to a Friday.
